ABOUT IEI :

The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), is the Professional Body of Engineers founded in India and incorporated by the Royal Charter in 1935. From a humble beginning in 1920, today it is a multi-disciplinary nation-wide association having the largest body of its kind in the whole of Asia with multinational status and bilateral relations with many sister associations round the world. This Institution functions amongst the Engineers, Academicians and Research Workers and provides a vast array of technical, professional and support services to the Government, Industries, Academic and the Engineering community.

IEI having membership of over 1,00,000 Corporate Members and over 5,00,000 Non-Corporate Members with 94 Local and State Centres. Over 630 Technicians’, Polytechnic and Engineering College Chapters functioning at various places in the country and abroad. A large number of technical papers from the industry and academia were published in the 16 Engineering Journals of different engineering disciplines .

IEI conduct Post-Graduate Diploma and AMIE Section A & Section B examinations. Under IEI Six Autonomous FORA are functioning. i.e. Rural Development Forum (RDF), National Design and Research Forum (NDRF), Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), Sustainable Development Forum (SDF), Water Management Forum (WMF) and Safety and Quality Forum (SQF).
ABOUT NDRF :


The National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) was established by The Institution of Engineers (India) in 1985 by a resolution of the IE(I) Council on 11 August 1985 with a view to provide a National platform for engineers, scientists and technologists engaged in Research and Development activities. IE (I) recognized that the growth and development of engineering in India depends to a great extent on the ability of its engineers to absorb emerging technologies and also on innovations for constant upgradation of designs and technical endeavors.

NDRF has emerged as a forum for exploring and disseminating new and emerging design and research concepts. NDRF is dedicated to provide an international forum for the discussion of design and research in the current issues of the nation.
